Three 10 minute plays

Holiday Plays
Get into the holiday spirit by joining Delano’s new community theatre organization, Delano Dramatic Company this holiday season for its inaugural stage presentation of three short plays dealing with warm (and sometimes humorous) holiday sentiments. Included in the presentation will be three short plays:

“Another Turn of the Scrooge” where the old curmudgeon we all “know and love” pays the price for his first good deed as his life takes yet another Christmas turn.

“Gift of the Magi – The Untold Story” reality sets in just after the conclusion of O’Henry’s classic short story of sacrifice and selflessness by turning the premise inside out, as a husband and wife quarrel over the ramifications of their gifts to each other.

“The Last Leaf” is the bittersweet story of Johnsy, a young artist living in Greenwich Village who is suffering from pneumonia in the epidemic of 1907 and has lost her will to live. However, in spite of the cold November winds, a friend provides the ultimate gift to Johnsy, and in doing so, saves her life. Utilizing O. Henry’s wise and poignant manner of describing this seasonal dilemma, this play shows what friendship is all about.
These three entertaining seasonal shows were directed by Jack Neveaux, and feature the acting talents of Nancy Lipinski, Laura Smith, Jakob Gomez, Kerstin Deters-Engel and Elvin Clark.
Performances were at Delano United Methodist Church in conjunction with Delano’s Old-Fashioned Christmas event on December 3 and 4, and also at the Delano Senior Center on December 8. Admission was free, with free will donations accepted.
